This October, creep through the eerie halls of our THEATRE OF TERRORS: ASYLUM. Our student created and built immersive haunted house experience plunges visitors into the depths of horror, while echoes can be heard around every corner. The KHSPAC students and alumni haunting the ASYLUM promise a psychological journey through genuine terror. Step into the flickering electroshock therapy room to the chilling isolation wards. Encounter ghostly inhabitants: deranged doctors, whispering nurses, and restless patients trapped by their past.
Are you ready to face the forgotten?
For the last three years, KHSPAC students and alumni under the tutelage and direction of KHSPAC Staff and teachers have created a unique Haunted House on our Theatre stage. This year however, the Theatre has experienced a major problem when the AC for the building suddenly broke. With the support of Kaimuki High School Administration, they were able to secure an alternate location and the “Theatre of Terrors” will take place in two adjoining empty classrooms. KHSPAC may be out of the actual Theatre this year, but this challenge allows them the opportunity to teach our students that the creative performing spirit is not dependent on a traditional theatre space – it can take place anywhere!
THEATRE OF TERRORS: ASYLUM features the ingenuity of the Performing Arts Center from conception to execution! Starting in September, KHSPAC students begin the task of two empty classrooms until a full-scale Haunted House. Under the direction and tutelage of Program Coordinator MJ Matsushita, students research ideas then build rooms and props. A casting call for auditions open to any public school students and KHSPAC Alumni takes place shortly after then rehearsals begin! THEATRE OF TERRORS: ASYLUM is directed by KHSPAC acting teacher Noah Nakachi and KHSPAC Sam Tafolo. Outside the THEATRE OF TERRORS: ASYLUM, don’t forget to check out theextremely popular KHSPAC Concession Stand Bake Sale! These delicious bakery items are handmade by Fenceline Bakery, a creation of program Coordinator, MJ Matsushita! All proceeds will go towards furthering the KHSPAC Program’s long-time goal of educating public school students in the all aspects of the Performing Arts discipline.
